FAQs
Laproscopy is defined as visualization of interior of the abdomen through a telescope introduced inside abdomen by making
a small hole. It is the first step towards performing any Laparoscopic procedure.
It is also called key hole surgery, where multiple small holes are made in the abdominal wall to introduce a telescope with
video viewing and thin long operating instruments.
Small holes, (.5 mm. to 10 mm. size), lead to less postoperative pain, minimal laparoscopy scar, less infection, and early return
to work and ultimately cost saving
Initial cost may be little more than open surgery because of the cost of the instruments involved. But overall the patient saves
money as less antibiotics are required, less stay in hospital and the return to work is early.
Diseases involving any abdominal organ can be treated, common conditions being gallbladder stones, appendectomy, all types
of hernia ( including Inguinal Hernia, Femoral Hernia, Umbilical Hernia, Incisional Hernia, Hiatus Hernia, etc ), Gastrectomy,
Colectomy, Nephrectomy, Adrenalectomy, Spleenectomy, Pancreatectomy & Hepatectomy.
It is 2-3 days after Laparoscopic surgery as compared to 2-3 weeks after open surgery.
